Number Crunching Time

$50,000,000,000. (50 BILLION folks, so many zeros it makes us dizzy both to look at and think about). That’s how much mental health claims are costing the Canadian economy.

30% of short and long-term disability claims in Canada are attributed to mental health. And depending on the sector of work, that number could be higher (think healthcare for example).

450 million people are currently struggling with mental illness around the world according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

50% of Canadians have either experienced or are experiencing symptoms of mental illness by the time they reach the age of 40. This is our most crucial working cohort that we will be dependent on as our baby boomers retire (which is upon us, right now).

90,000 hours. That’s how much time the average person will spend at work.

Which one of these stats strikes you the most?
